Our Staff

We are committed, prayerful, devoted Christians with a heart not only for the teenage girls that come to stay at our homes but for the ones who have not yet found the sanctuary of His care.

Douglas Sauder, President

Doug SauderWorking with foster kids when he was in college transformed Doug’s life. His experience inspired him not only to change his major, but also to devote his life to helping the many children that others had given up on. A licensed foster parent, Doug has a master’s degree and many years of work and personal experience in foster care. Currently at His Caring Place, he provides leadership and direction for the staff. He also works to unite churches and community leaders and create a broad base of support for fulfilling God’s mandate to care for those in need. Apart from his role as a family pastor, Doug is a mentor, adoptive parent, foster parent, and biological parent.

 Linda Lukasik, Director

Linda LukasikLinda and her husband, Tom, were successful business owners for many years, but in the early 1990’s, God began to show them that making a difference was much more important than simply making a living. Linda decided to go back to school to get her Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) while they were working with foster kids as group home houseparents, and subsequently to qualify as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Over the years, Linda and Tom have fostered more than 30 children. Since becoming houseparents in 1994, Linda has also served as the director of an emergency shelter, director of residential services, and clinical coordinator for foster kids in Palm Beach County. This unique background, as well as Linda’s own life experiences, has prepared her well to serve God as the Director of His Caring Place.

Katy Mills, Community Relations

Katy MillsKaty has been working with teen mothers since 1999. Her heart and calling for this group began when she became involved with an inner city mentoring program for mothers while at college where she served as mentor, birth coach, volunteer coordinator and community outreach director. She attended Taylor University and graduated with a degree in Secondary Education and Communications. Shortly after graduating, Katy and her husband Aaron felt God calling them into full-time ministry and became houseparents at His Caring Place maternity home in 2003. After serving as direct care staff, Katy moved into community relations and has greatly enjoyed spreading His Caring Place’s message of “Saving lives two at a time” to the community.

Trish Kanipe - Maternity Home Houseparent

Trisha - HouseParentTrish developed a passion for young women through many years of missionary experience, including work in Romanian orphanages and Bosnian refugee camps. Holding on to that passion for many years, God finally made it clear what He wanted her to do with it in 2008. Trish was watching a His Caring Place video at a church service when God put it in her heart to become a house parent. Shortly after becoming a volunteer in the maternity home, God opened up an opportunity to become the maternity home house parent. Trish said that seeing the girls come to know the Lord and make good decisions for themselves and their children has been her greatest joy in life.

Robin Perlini - After Care Home Houseparent

RobinRobin’s heart for teen mothers developed as a result of her own teen pregnancy. At 16 years old, Robin had her first son. Without the support of her parents, Robin’s pregnancy was a scary and lonely process. Because of her own experience, she realized that no girl should have to deliver her baby alone. In 2008, she began volunteering at the aftercare home and taught a weekly Bible study. Soon after, became the house parent in the His Caring Place maternity home. Now Robin is able to support her residents through their pregnancies and make sure they never feel alone or helpless like she did.

Kristen Paulson, Aftercare Home Residental Advisor

KristenKristen has had a heart to work with those in need from a young age. After receiving her bachelor's degree in psychology and a concentration in counseling, she was accepted into the Teach For America program. It was in her second year of teaching special education, that God called her to 4KIDS. God's faithfulness shone through when she got involved with 4KIDS and soon was offered a Residential Advisor position with His Caring Place and a role working within Foster Care. Kristen feels incredibly blessed that God has trusted her with meeting the needs of His children.

Jane Doe Cindy grew up without the protection most take for granted in childhood. She and her sister were exposed to drugs, alcohol, verbal and physical abuse at very young ages. Her mom brought them with her to crack houses or when she prostituted herself. At age 7, Cindy was raped. It began a pattern of men molesting her throughout her childhood. "To distract myself," remembers Cindy, "I created my own imaginary world where everything was happy and safe. Eventually, I turned to alcohol to dull the pain. By 18, I was stripping. By 20, I was prostituting myself, and then I got pregnant." Alone, she had nowhere to go for help. But hope was just around the corner... One day, outside the DCF office, a stranger walked up to her and told her about His Caring Place. Right there, in the parking lot, she prayed to God and asked for forgiveness and a new life. "I found that new life at His Caring Place," she remembers. For the first time, she saw a stable, loving family, and she knew that was what she wanted for her daughter, Cloe. Now she is working and pursuing her education. "With God's help, I am breaking the cycle of my grandmother not being a mother to my mom, and my mom not being a mother to me. This cycle of neglect has stopped with me."
